run out of storage quote yet 0 MB used?!

Argh! First year report of PhD is due in in 2 days, and the Zotero account I have linked to my Open Office document refuses to input any more citations, saying I have run out of my 100MB space. So, I bought 1GB of space. It still won't put any citations in, even after waiting 24 hours. It says my current usage is 0% and 0MB?! What is going on here? I need to sort this out as starting to panic now so close to the deadline! The library clearly is not using 0MB!
Help!
  • Citations and OpenOffice documents have nothing to do with Zotero File Storage space.

If you're trying to sync files to a group you don't own and the owner is over their quota, you'll get a warning message, but that in no way would prevent you from working on a document or syncing items.

But in general, when you're receiving an error, you need to provide the exact error message you're getting.
  • The error report is:

[JavaScript Error: "labelGetUbuntu is null" {file: "chrome://ubufox/content/overlay.js" line: 82}]

    Report ID: 1593722699

I'm not part of a group Zotero as far as I'm aware?

  • No, the message you're seeing on screen that caused you to come here and report a problem.
  • Ok That is:

You have reached your Zotero File Storage quota. Some files were not uploaded. Other Zotero data will continue to sync to the server.

See your zotero.org account settings for additional storage options.

    2008_EARSS_Annual_Report-1.pdf (7401KB)

When check my account setting this is what it says:

    Current Storage Plan
    Quota 1 GB
    Expiration 21 Dec 2011
    Current Usage
    My Library 0 MB
    Total 0 MB
    0.0%
  • We're looking into this, but you understand that this in no way affects your ability to use the OpenOffice plugin, yes?
  • Also, please provide a Debug ID for a sync attempt that produces this error.
  • The Debug ID is D163780066.
I can add citations absolutely fine if they are already in the library, the problem is when I need to add a new citation from the literature into my library. Having said that, I deleted a load of attached files such as pdfs and for the first time in 2 days it let me add a citation to the library. Having said that, the triangular yellow caution sign with the associated error message are still there.
    Thanks,
    Laura
  • Again, the error you're seeing in no way prevents you from adding items to your library. It's a file sync error—metadata (which is what you use in a bibliography) continues to sync (and you don't even need to sync if you're citing from only one computer).

And you're syncing to a different Zotero account from the one you're posting from. So you're looking at storage settings for the wrong account, and the error message you're seeing means exactly what it says.

But again, this has nothing whatsoever to do with adding items to your library or using the OpenOffice plugin.
  • OK, I suspected there was somehow 2 accounts, how do I go about merging into one account? Perhaps I can export this library to the one I actually bought 1 GB data for? That will solve all problems, surely?
  • Don't use export for this. If all your data are in your local Zotero install (the pane at the bottom), you can set the credentials in the sync preferences to the correct ones, and to a Reset To Server in the Reset section of the sync preferences.
  • Right, that seems to have done the trick!
    Thanks for your help,
    Merry Christmas,
    Laura
