Citation does not appear

I click on "Zotero insert citation" (Word 2004 for Mac), the Add/Edit Citation window appears, I select a citation, a citation number reference appears in the document text, but citation does not appear in document.

    to get the bibliography click "insert bibliography".
    To get other types of citations - e.g. in footnotes - select a different citation style.
