Book section

Sorry if the topic has already been started.

It would be useful to have a tool that would allow to create a new book section record from a book record already in the database.
  • arggem
    Right click (PC) the item in the center pane, and click "Duplicate selected item". Then, on the new item, got to the right-hand pane, and change the Item Type to Book section. Now you are set to add the info for the section.

    I also relate the the section to the main book, then for future sections, I duplicate the book section, not the main book. That way all the sections show up as related to the book. But that's optional, of course.

    All right and thank you arggem. That's what I use to do as well. The trouble is that the author(s) name(s) of the book don't appear in the book section record. It would be great to generate automaticaly something like :
    John Doe, "Bla bla bla" in Jane Doe and John Doe (eds), Main bla bla, New York, 2010, p. 1-45.

    Ah, you mean that zotero would automatically know what all the book sections are and create them atutomagically?

    I'm assuming in the book entry you have the editors listed as editors, not authors.

    Or am I still not understanding?

    The book editors would appear. As for chapter author, chapter title, and page range - how would Zotero know these?

    Still, when citing a book section, are you sure that the book editors would appear? I tried and didn't manage.
