Open Office plugin doesn't work

Report ID: 505263118

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, Firefox 3.6.12, and OpenOffice 3.2.

After installing the plugin for OpenOffice, I get the following message each time I open Firefox. "Zotero OpenOffice Integration could not complete installation because an error occurred. Please ensure that OpenOffice is closed, and then restart Firefox." I followed the steps on the troubleshooting page and tried to follow the steps others have used on the discussion board, but haven't been able resolve the problem.
  • what's the output of
    sudo update-alternatives --config java
  • Selection Path Priority Status
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    0 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java 1061 auto mode
    1 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java 1061 manual mode
    * 2 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java 63 manual mode
  • try completely uninstalling openjdk - in a bunch of cases people have reported conflicts with JDK installed.
  • I got the same error message after uninstalling OpenJDK. Any other suggestions?
  • What are your paths in Tools->Add-ons->Extensions->Zotero OpenOffice Integration? What happens if you click the "Detect Paths" button there?
  • The path was wrong. I followed the directions in the troubleshooting section for correcting the problem and everything works now. I'm an Ubuntu newbie and really appreciate the help.
