no annotation tool bar

I would like to use the annotation toolbar capability, but when I click on "view snapshot" no annotation toolbar shows up. What can I do to activate it or should it show up automatically?
  • it should show up automatically - but only for webpages, not if you're looking at a pdf file, even if it's opened within Firefox.
  • I am looking at a webpage. For example, I went to http://www.cocorahs.org/ViewData/ListDailyPrecipReports.aspx and hit "create new item from current page". When I click view snapshot, I see the page, but no tool bar to allow annotation. What am I doing wrong?????
  • works for me. you might disable your other extensions, switch to the default theme, and restart your browser.
  • Thank you for your help, but I need some of the add ons I have for other functions (i.e. Java). I did switch to the default theme, but that did not help. I don't know why my extensions would be causing this. I imagine that I am not the only one who runs into this issue as I have VERY few extensions running other than Java.
  • java should be a 'plugin' and not an 'extension. Keep in mind you can always re-activate your extensions. There are various extensions that interfere with zotero, including (but probably not limited to):
    http://www.zotero.org/support/known_issues

As I said: it works for me, so it doesn't seem to be a zotero issue.
  • I had previously looked at the list of extensions that interfere with Zotero and the only one I have was Skype which I had already disabled prior to starting this thread. I do have several Java extensions i.e. Java console and quick start. The only others I have are Picnik and microsoft net. I will try disabling them as well just to see if the problem comes from them. While it may not be a zotero issue, it is an issue of incompatibility that affects Zotero performance on an average computer. If I am having these problems, I must not be alone.
  • so far you're the only person reporting this - we don't even know yet if it's the add-ons or something else - removing (and then re-adding) the add-ons is a necessary troubleshooting step.
    You don't have a custom theme/persona, either?
  • Thank you both for your help!!! I disabled all my extensions and now the annotation task bar does sow up. I will try adding them back in to see which one is the culprit. I've already added Picnik back so it isn't that one. Thank you again for your assistance.
