zotero field corresponding to this citation has been corrupted

Hello,
I get the following error message:"The Zotero field code corresponding to this citation, which tells Zotero which item in your library this citation represents, has been corrupted. Would you like to reselect the item? Clicking "No" will delete the field codes for citations containing this item, preserving the citation text but potentially deleting it from your bibliography."
This is how I got here.
- I got a new computer and moved my zotero database by copying it from the old computer into the new one. I installed zotero on my new computer, associated my old database to it (from preferences) and installed the word plugin. However, when I opened an old document and tried to modify existing citations I got the error message mentioned above.

It is very annoying as I need to submit the document soon and I don't want to lose all the work.

Please help! The problem, it seems to me, is that on the old computer I had word 2003 and on the new one I have word 2007. Can this explain the error and can I do something about it?

thank you very much for your help!
  • The version of Word is irrelevant. If you select a new item to replace the one with the corrupted field code, does the error disappear? Is Track Changes turned on?
  • Thank you for replying, Simon. I turned off the track changes, but the error didn't disappear until I accepted all changes in the document. Now it seems to work.
I didn't select a new item to replace the one with the corrupted field code because I was not given this option.
    Thanks so much again!
  • I am having the same exact problem. I set up Zotero to sync. And if I insert citations on my work computer, and then try to work on the document at home, I get the above error. Reinserting the citations does not help (it just gives the same error). The only remedy is to work on the computer that the document was created on. Both computers have Word 2010, but it happened when it was Word 2007 too. I don't have Track changes turned on.
It's becoming more and more inconvenient, since I have to work more and more away from the office.
    Please help.

This is probably related to this bug in Zotero 2.1b1 or to track changes, as above. 2.1b2 will be out soon, hopefully tomorrow.
