ubuntu 10.04 openoffice 3.2 instaltion problem

i have recently upgraded my OS version from 9.04 to 10.04 (using the upgrade manager)
with it openoffice was upgraded to 3.2 and firefox to 3.6.12
when trying to use the zotero toolbar i got a massage about incompability of oo extention and firefox extention so i removed them both (from within firefox) and tried to install the latest version (zotero 2.0.9 and oo extention 3.0b2)
the zotero toolbar came out with no icons and totally not functioning.

other info

sun java 6 update 18 is running and defined to firefox
java uno directory: file:///usr/lib/openoffice/basis-link/ure-link/share/java/
office executables directory: file:///usr/lib/openoffice/program/

i tried to uninstall zotero from firefox then completely remove ~/.mozilla/firefox then reinstalling with no luck the toolbar is name add-on-1 and is not functioning

i will apreciate any help
  • When you upgraded your system, the updater may have removed Sun Java or installed IcedTea over top of it. (IcedTea also reports that it's "Sun Java", so using the Java tester isn't particularly useful for this.) Alternatively, it may have enabled apparmor. You should follow the instructions for installing Sun Java here and then the apparmor-related instructions below if that doesn't work.
  • simon thanks for the comment but i have already followed those instructions and made sure that i really have the latest release of sun java and that this is the package firefox uses
  • disable app-armor and unistall iced-tea.
  • first of all thanks adamsmith for your help (no success)

    2 other things:
    1. i completely uninstalled icedtea and openjdk then reinstalled zotero with no luck
    2. i comletely purged openoffice then reinstalled it again no luck
    3. any other ideas?
  • I think there's a new Ooo plugin version (3.08a or so) - might be worth a try testing that out
  • Also, provide a report ID if you're still experiencing issues.
  • simon and adamsmith thanks for your help
since my report-bugs menu option is greyed i cant see how to report bugs through the website

    thank again
    yair
  • this is now solved
i actually dont relly know how but i think what did the trick for me is three things:
    1. putting apparmor to comlain mode (completely stopping it did not work):
    sudo aa-complain /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefox
    2. shutting down openoffice
    3. reinstalling the openoffice plugin (not by uninstall and the install but by pressing the reinstall button)

as always after solving it you always think am i dumb or what?
