Help! Citation Button is also inserting the bibliography within the body of the text!

I'm on a Mac, running OS 10.6.4 with Microsoft Word 2004
I am running Firefox to 3.6.12
I just updated Zotero to 2.0.9 and Zotero MacWord Integration to 3.04b

Until earlier today, Zotero was working fine. Now when I press the toolbar button to insert a citation (in American Psychological Assoc. 6th edition format), in addition to the citation it's also generating the bibliography into the middle of my text!

I'm in the middle of a major research paper, and this is totally derailing me! I already have tons of sources input into Zotero, and really don't want to have to start over or create the rest by hand. Please help!
  • What do you mean by "it's also generating the bibliography into the middle of my text"? Is there one specific place in the middle of your document where a bibliography is getting inserted, or several? Is it overwriting text in your document with a bibliography, or just adding it? Also, are you using bookmarks or fields?
  • Here's exactly what I'm doing:
I clicked in the middle of sentence to insert a citation, and clicked on the citation button in the toolbar. The citation is inserted exactly where the cursor was, and the bibliography is simultaneously getting inserted at the end of the paragraph (not the end of the document). The formatting of the paragraph AFTER the citation gets indented 1/2" in (just like the formatting for the bibliography).

It is not overwriting the text.

    I'm using Fields.

    Thanks,
    Karen
  • Does this happen in every paragraph, or just one specific paragraph? In the latter case, have you tried completely deleting the bibliography after inserting the citation? Does it come back?
  • Oh, this is interesting. It seems to be just that only a couple of paragraphs, but not every paragraph.

If I delete the bibliography from the end of the paragraph, it doesn't seem to come back. The formatting corrects itself as well.

Also, I should mention that I already had generated a bibliography at the end of the document, which I've been updating a few times as I continue to add citations from new sources.
  • For what it's worth (and unrelated to the issue at hand) I wouldn't insert the bibliography until you're pretty much done. While this shouldn't cause any errors, it tends to affect Zotero performance and make it slower.
