sharing pdf files in a group

I've recently switched from Endnote to Zotero, and am still learning this program. Now I have a research assistant working for me, and she is creating Zotero files for my research, with pdf attachments, putting them in a group library so I can easily transfer her work into my own Zotero library. The files are working fine, but we can't figure out how to get the pdfs to transfer. They look like they're present in the group library, but when I click on them I get the message "File Not Found." How can we get the pdf to attach properly? Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere; I did a quick search of the forums and could not find an answer.

    first check your sync preferences - you need "Sync attachment files in Group libraries..." checked.
