Insert citation not always works

Inserting a citation is beginning to be a gamble. Sometimes it works, some times i doesn't. I don't get any warnings or errors. Though, when creating a new document it will work fine. Are there any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Open Office 3.2
Firefox 3.6.10
Zotero 2.0.3
Zotero Open Office Integration 3.0a8
  • Any reason you're not running the latest stable version of Zotero (2.0.8)?
  • Nope, I ran into this problem on two computers ( with the same document ) one computer uses 2.0.3 the other 2.0.8.
  • Do you use multiple profiles? Do you ever have a problem inserting citations into a new document?
  • Multiple zotero profiles i guess? No, only my account "roelveldhuizen" which syncs between those two machines. When creating a new document inserting citations works excellent.

Inserting citations in the 'problem' document seems to be completely random. At least i can find a pattern. Sometimes it works the first time.
  • I could privately send the file if that would help?
  • It does seem to be that case that documents can occasionally break. If you copy and paste the document contents to a new document, does the problem persist in the new document?

If it does, can you isolate a part of the document that, when copied to a new document, causes the problem to persist?
  • When I make a copy of the file the problem persists. I seems that I can't copy a piece of text from one document to an other because the citation fields will disappear. Any idea how I should copy that?
  • Take a look at http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#debugging_broken_documents ; specifically, try making a copy of the file and deleting pieces of it until the problem goes away.
  • I think I found the problem. I placed references and copied them in to a table that seems to have broken the document. What is the best way to insert references in to a table?
  • You can try installing the OpenOffice Integration 3.0 branch XPI, which theoretically supports tables, although it's not thoroughly tested.
