Hyperlinks in standalone notes should open web pages
Hi,
I feel like I'm missing something. I put a hyperlink in a standalone note, but when I click on it it won't open the actual web page.
I know that I could just add the web page as an item in the zotero library outside of the note, but then why are hyperlinks and edit hyperlinks options in the standalone note if you can't use them like hyperlinks?
I've tried combination's of control/alt/shift while clicking and still no joy.
Please tell me if I'm just missing something!
Kind regards,

Since the note editor uses third-party code, this is unlikely to change unless it is addressed by the folks over at TinyMCE.

Really, we should switch to something else, but the Zotero team can't afford to write it from scratch, and no serious replacements have been found. In the first thread, I suggested adding a TinyMCE onClick action for links -- it should be possible, but I don't really enjoy diving in unfamiliar JavaScript, so I haven't really explored it.
In the second thread above, I suggested Mozilla's Midas, which would be ideal if it hadn't been abandoned (it seems) by Mozilla.
Looking at Gmail when you switch between reading an email and replying (like toggling between read only mode and edit using the terminology from Dan's post) it brings up a 'goto link' box with the hyperlink available to then click. Is that the 'unfamiliar onClick' action in JavaScript you were discussing ajlyon? And perhaps it also answers Dan's point of how it would work at the user end of things?
