Error - Cannot load component parts to communicate with word processor

Just switched over to a Mac and tried to install Zotero but received the following error using both versions 2.0 and 2.1

Firefox could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor. Please ensure that the appropriate Firefox extension is installed and try again.

Have tried loading and reloading, detecting, reinstalling etc......

I have the most up to date versions of the operating system, java etc...

Still get the same error.

Seems to be looking in the right spots for the component parts. Have tried to fiddle with files etc... but no success.

    Sorry for the double post, but wasn't sure where the message belonged.

    Report ID is 827903315

    I am assuming that this is the relevant part of the error message since the rest of it had to do with a "feed burner issue"

    [JavaScript Error: "[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/integration.js :: _callIntegration :: line 239" data: no]" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/integration.js" line: 239}]

    Again not sure what to do as I seem to be following all of the instructions and all of the hints and strategies adopted by others who have posted similar problems in these forums
  • On the one page where I am supposed to see a pink rectangle and the text telling me what version I am running it is simply blue and no text.

    Apple says that the latest version Java is installed and so too does Firefox 3.6.10 - says it is enabled.
  • OK - you need to fix Java for Firefox then - I once did that on a Mac, I vaguely remember something about a separate java plugin for Firefox. Maybe it's just re-installing this one?

  • Thanks a lot that seems to have done the trick. Still trying to get used to work arounds in the Mac World after years on a PC.
