Very few snapshots or attachments available in online library

Only a tiny minority of my snapshots and attachments are viewable in my online storage, which shows only 19 MB of my 1G being used. (I was checking files after I re-installed Zotero earlier - a few have been lost, but nothing serious).

My preferences are set to using sync attachment files using Zotero and to sync attachment files in group libraries using Zotero storage.

This problem is not related to the disappearance of Zotero earlier, since storage use was at 19MB about a month ago, and I have added lots of items since. But I don't understand why the vast majority of attachments and snapshots are not viewable online. Do I simply misunderstand the purpose of storage?
  • Can you provide an example?
  • May not be the same thing, but I find that attachments that are snapshots of web pages do not sync; instead, the "attachment" on the server just lists the url of the original page. This means (a) If the page changes or goes away, I no longer see the original version except on the computer I first used (b) Annotations I may have made on the snapshot are not available except on the original computer and (c) I cannot share annotated web page snapshots in a private or public closed group. This seems like a problem to me! Is it a bug, or intentional? Will it be addressed in future releases? Thanks.
  • Annotations and highlights don't sync. They will in the future, though we can't guarantee that existing annotations and highlights will ever sync.

Snapshots aren't visible via the web currently—only single-file attachments—but that doesn't mean that they haven't synced. Synced snapshots should be available on any synced computer.
  • Thanks for the clarification. What does this mean for group members if an item is in a group account. Will other group members be able to acquire the web snapshot version or not?
  • Dan, is it correct that, in order to access the attachments (PDFs in my case) from my group library (which is set to be public, closed membership) on zotero.org, I have to first log in?

So, to share the content in the library with others, they need to become members? Is there a way around it?
  • Open public libraries cannot share files. Only members can download files.
