Urgent I need Multiple Bibliographies in Open Office

Hi
There was a similar thread I read, but it was a long discussion and I did not understand it fully. I am not a computer minded person at all and I need to hand in my PhD thesis by tomorrow. To my shock horror when I tried to add multiple bibliographies today...it doesnt work??

Is it at all possible or will I have to do it by manual mode?

Its NB I have at least 4 seperate Bibliographies at the end of each chapter.

Chapter 1 Introduction...followed by bibliography
Chapter 2 Project 1
Chapter 3 Project 2
Chapter 4 Conclusions

Please can I have the dummy non computer person version if this is at all possible?
  • You should be able to do this if you first split the thesis into 4 files, then insert the bibliography at the end of each file/chapter.
Then, what I would do is to just export each of the files as a pdf and assemble the individual files.
Unfortunately, that might get you in trouble with pagination - so alternatively, you can save a copy of each chapter for back-up and then remove field codes (in the Zotero plugin), before pasting the four chapters together.

A workaround that should do the trick:

    - copy/paste each chapter to a new empty Word document
    - generate the bibliography in the newly created documents
    - remove the zotero field codes in the new documents (http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/3704/remove-field-codes-as-in-endnote/), this will make sure your formatted bibliographies aren't refreshed by Zotero
    - copy/paste the formatted bibliographies into the original document at the desired locations
  • ah yes - RIntze's method is perhaps more elegant/safer.
  • Thanks. I had been working on seperate chapters in seperate documents, but recently combined them.

The reason I didnt notice before was because I was saving my Zotero Openoffice document in .doc format...which meant I could have multiple Bibliographies before. However now I changed it to .odt, Zotero is working as it should and updating the Bibliographies.

Since Chapter 1 and 2 was already complete (previous in .doc format), I will just play around with making the reference numbers the same size.
Chapter 3 and 4, I will prob have to seperate again, as suggested.
Thanks. I was expecting that Zotero might have been updated to allow for this, but it seems it hasnt. Shame, as seems like alot of people need multiple bibliographies.
