Zotero Not Working, Won't Upgrade

I love this app and have saved dozens of bookmarks. I'm using FF 3.6.8 on Mac OS 10.6.4

There's a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark over the logo. When I try to upgrade, I get a script error that's almost off the screen (the buttons to stop script or continue don't work. The chunk of the script warning I can see says "...ions/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS... [new line] ... sionManager.js:623"

What to do?? I don't see reference to this kind of issue and can't get into Zotero.

Thanks in advance for your help.
  • What do you mean by "try to upgrade"? Do you mean the Zotero upgrade wizard at Firefox startup (which you should only see if you're coming from a pre-2.0 version)? Or something else?

What are you doing when you see the script warning, and what do you mean when you say that the buttons don't work? The line you noted isn't from Zotero itself, but generally you need to click Continue.
  • Thanks, Dan.

In an attempt to fix my problem, I went to Zotero.org and attempted to upgrade. When I click the Download and then the install is when that script appears. I do not get an upgrade notification when I re-start FF.

Neither clicking "continue" nor stop script works. I'm re-trying, but maybe there's a better way to get Zotero working and remove the yellow triangle warning sign?
  • OK, inability to install an extension indicates a Firefox problem, not a Zotero problem. You can try deleting extension cache files, but beyond that you'd have to follow up with Mozilla support.

(This is separate from the yellow triangle, which would be a Zotero issue, but you might as well fix re-installation first. A computer restart might also serve you well, at any rate.)
  • Thanks. Problem solved. I was suspecting Firefox too and saw that there was an upgrade to version 3.6.9 available. I upgraded Firefox, and Zotero is working just fine now. Whew! Thanks just the same. "Case closed." ;)
