I lost a library in Zotero so i went to Mendeley (don't use regularly) and it can scan library and created a citation from that.
This is awesome feature that help to reduce a work when you need to manually extract citation data from pdfs.

How to i activate this.

(then, as the instructions I first linked to indicate, "right click on [a pdf] and select 'Retrieve Metadata for PDF'")
I wish one day there will be a shiny button "scan folder"
What part is complicated to you?
Once the plugins are installed it really is click and go.
1. Drag the file(s) to Zotero
2. right-click and retrieve metadata
I transferred my Zotero from default library to a new HDD.
The reason: Old HDD is getting old and i wanted speed and reliability.
I think the some of the data was lost during the transfer.
I think i did everything according to instruction.
Also it might that i accidentally deleted the folder in Zotero, i noticed that Zotero's trash bin is working for single entry and not for a collection, after deletion, the collection will be lost and no files will be transferred to trash bin.
