Word does not create bibliography

I have been successfully inserting citations to my word document until now. To see how many sources I cited I tried to create a bibliography/works cited section from the "references" menu.

All i get is a message that says "There are no sources in the current document."
Any ideas how to get around?
I am using Windows XP
Word 2007
Zotero 2.0.3
  • The References menu has nothing to do with Zotero.
  • Also, when I just went to my Source Manager on references > citations&bibliography > manage sources, i do not see a master list.
  • previously i have used the references menu to "insert bibliography" on other papers and it would automatically create a list of all the works cited within that document using Zotero.
  • Zotero works through its own toolbar, which has nothing to do with Word's built-in reference functionality. That has always been the case.

Word has a built in reference manager - it's not very powerful.
Zotero has nothing to do with that.
see here for working with Zotero in Word:

I think in Word 2007 the Zotero toolbar is in one of the so called "Ribbons"

edit: uhm - what Dan said.
  • thanks for the replies.
I think i was not clear.

I use zotero with firefox to keep a record of all the sources i read.
then when i need to cite these in my paper i use the zotero add-in in word. It lets me choose the appropriate source from the list which I previously create with zotero on firefox.

Only now, somehow I am able to insert citation from zotero's add-in but not create the whole bibliography of those cited sources.
  • Read what we said above. "There are no sources in the current document" is a message Word's built-in reference functionality displays—it has absolutely nothing to do with Zotero.
  • You are right. I should not have used the "insert bibliography" of word, and should have used the one in the "add-in" menu of zotero.

Apologies for the confusion, and thanks for the help.
