Request for a citation style for Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications
I am preparing a manuscript for submission to the journal Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, but it is not listed in the repository. Here is the information on the formatting of the style from the journal's website:
Reference style
Text: Indicate references by number(s) in square brackets in line with the text. The actual authors can be referred to, but the reference number(s) must always be given.
Example: "..... as demonstrated [3,6]. Barnaby and Jones [8] obtained a different result ...."
List: Number the references (numbers in square brackets) in the list in the order in which they appear in the text.
Examples:
Reference to a journal publication:
[1] J. van der Geer, J.A.J. Hanraads, R.A. Lupton, The art of writing a scientific article, J. Sci. Commun. 163 (2000) 51–59.
Reference to a book:
[2] W. Strunk Jr., E.B. White, The Elements of Style, third ed., Macmillan, New York, 1979.
Reference to a chapter in an edited book:
[3] G.R. Mettam, L.B. Adams, How to prepare an electronic version of your article, in: B.S. Jones, R.Z. Smith (Eds.), Introduction to the Electronic Age, E-Publishing Inc., New York, 1999, pp. 281–304.
You must also list a minimum of 3 authors associated with a cited work before using "et al." in each of your references.
Journal abbreviations source
Journal names should be abbreviated according to
Index Medicus journal abbreviations: External link http://www.nlm.nih.gov/tsd/serials/lji.html;
List of serial title word abbreviations: External link http://www.issn.org/2-22661-LTWA-online.php;
CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service): External link http://www.cas.org/sent.html.
In their format for journal articles, the author's first names are initials, the first names are first before the last names, and the title of the article is provided. I did not find a similar format in the repository.
Thanks very much for any assistance.

Thank you.

Thank you.
Did you look for similar styles? Because this smells quite a bit like:
http://www.zotero.org/styles/elsevier-with-titles/dev
Edited book
Zotero Elsevier BBRC
title title
edition (numbers not words used) publisher
publication city and state publication city, state
publisher name publication year
publication year pages
pages
There is no example of placement of an edition number in the BBRC instructions for an edited book.
Unedited book:
title title
edition (numbers not words) edtion (words, not numbers)
publication city and state publisher
publisher publication state
publication year publication year
Thank you very much for any assistance in modifying the Zotero Elsevier style to match the BBRC instructions.
CSL-0.8 (used by the release version of Zotero 2.0) does not support "long ordinals". CSL-1.0 will. So having "3rd" instead of "third" will be possible in the future.
Is the elsevier-with-titles style otherwise identical to your needs? If so, we can create a dependent style.
The elsevier-with-titles style is otherwise identical, it seems. I hope I have not missed any differences.
If you create a dependent style, do you provide a link that I can select to install? Thank you again.
In the Zotero Elsevier style for an edited book, the sequence of information starting with the title is:
title, edition, publication location, publisher name, year of publication, and pages.
The BBRC style instructions for an edited book list:
title, publisher, publication location, publication year, and pages. No example of where to place the edition is given, so I assume that using the Zotero style placement of the edition will be acceptable.
In the Zotero style for an unedited book, the sequence is:
title, edition (numbers not words), publication location, publisher, and year of publication.
The BBRC style is a little different:
title, edition (words, not numbers), publisher, publication location, year of publication.
So the differences are minor, but real. BBRC prefers words, not numbers, apparently.
I would really like to make as few manual adjustments to bibliography lists as possible. Thanks so much for your assistance.
