Error starting Zotero

Hello. I had not used Zotero for several weeks and then noticed the yellow triangle over the icon in Firefox - it will not open with the error message "error starting Zotero". It also seems there is nothing in my online library through the website.

Error console message:

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIXMLHttpRequest.statusText]" nsresult: "0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location: "JS frame :: http://www.zotero.org/support/lib/exe/js.php?edit=0&write=0 :: anonymous :: line 1" data: no]

Since I last used Zotero successfully I have not downloaded any add-ons nor added new software to my laptop. I did accept the routine Firefox upgrades. Am using a Mac 10.6.4.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

    That's not a Zotero client error. (Anything that mentions "http://www.zotero.org" is irrelevant.) What else is there?

    There were no other zotero related error messages in the console, although a few warnings (I think one was text style or size or something similar) that now aren't appearing.

    Should I just try reinstalling? I was afraid to do so b/c my saved data doesn't seem available in "My Library" through the website either at the moment.

    Delete compreg.dat and xpti.dat from your Firefox profile directory, restart Firefox, and check again.

    Reinstalling Zotero has no effect on saved data. And you would only have data via the website if you've synced.

    I cannot start Zotero (yellow triangle with !). The Firefox error console reports:

    Error: Zotero is undefined

    Any suggestions?

    See above. Restart your computer and/or reinstall Zotero and/or check the console again after deleting those files.

    It now also shows this error message (in addition to the two mentioned earlier):
