Annotation and Highlights lost after closing a tab

I am having trouble with annotations and highlights on a saved webpage (not PDF). I can highlight and write annotations on a webpage snapshot, but when I close the tab and reopen it, all the notes are lost. I am using Zotero 2.0b7.6 and Firefox 3.0.17 on Windows XP. I love this tool, so please help! Thanks a lot.

I just installed Zotero 2.0 in Firefox 3.6 on Windows XP and I can see the annotation and highlighting toolbar but I can't use it at all on a web page snapshot. It doesn't work.
  • I just installed Zotero 2 in Firefox 3.6 too on Mac 10.5.8. I can see and use the highlighting and annotation toolbar for a web page snapshot. BUT it's not saving them. When I migrate to another snapshot and then come back it all disappears. Rather infuriating.
  • I found that I could save highlighting and annotations by saving a second snapshot of the page after you finish editing. I usually then delete the first snapshot.

    I hope I helped.

I also experienced disappearing highlights for one of my library items. Then, without any changes to zotero it worked again for another item.

I found out that whether highlights are properly saved depends on the web site. In my 2 test cases a snapshot from a MacWorld article failed to store the highlights whereas a snapshot from a research magazine worked fine.

For those sites that interfere with zotero highlighting rkallos' work-around does the job. Thanks for sharing. But it's tedious to save a new snapshot every time you add a highlight.

If this is really something coming from the web sites, the question becomes what part of their code causes the highlighting to fail. Maybe, we could start by collecting pages that didn't work with zotero.
