Metadata Import

I have been saving a lot of journal articles etc from emerald and business source. when I import them into Zotero and run the retrieve metadata function I get nothing. Any ideas on what is going, or what I can do about it. I really want to use Zotero but this will stop me with all the info I have gathered.

The pdf are stored on my computer like: 12354.pdf etc...

    There are translators for Emerald Publishing and EBSCO, so you can probably import files directly in the future. Some of those PDFs you already have can probably be identified via:http://www.zotero.org/support/retrieve_pdf_metadata

    Chris - I see you've already run retrieve metadata - various reasons why that might not work - older EBSCO articles didn't use to have a text layer - they were just scans. If that's the case Zotero can't do anything.

    Otherwise, try a couple of pdfs that you get through google scholar to see if the retrieve metadata function works in general (since Zotero uses google scholar to get the data those usually work).

    Finally, some articles simply aren't found.
