Word Cannot Communicate with Zotero.

Hi,

I have recently started to receive the "Word could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure Firefox is running and try again" message. I have tried the general fixes mentioned in the other thread for this problem (disabling ZoneAlarm, making sure both Zotero and the WP plug-in are up to date, and removing spaces from the filename) - but the problem is still persisting. The other fixes mentioned seemed very specific, and I wasn't sure whether to try them.

Specifications are as follows:

Zotero 2.0.3
Zotero WinWord Integration 3.0a4
Word 2000
Firefox 3.6.8
Vista

Any help would be gratefully appreciated - I'm 3/4 of the way through a PhD and don't want Zotero to stop working now! :)

    wasn't it the case that disabling Zone Alarm often didn't do the trick?

    You also need to disable ForceField, which apparently doesn't always get disabled with ZoneAlarm. Try these instructions.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for your advice. I started to follow the instructions to disable ForceField but, to be honest, ZoneAlarm was just being so fiddly and awkward that I uninstalled it and have gone back to Windows Defender. And lo and behold - Zotero is working again! Thanks :)
