Twain M. [1876] and not Twain M. [2000]

Hi.

I have orders to use the original date of publication of the books I'm quoting.
I should then use (Twain, 1876) or (Twain, 2000 [1876]) as reference.

How can I do that with Zotero ? There is no "original date" field in the book element.

Thanks,
B. C.
  • Right now there is not great solution.
The next version of csl - the citation styles that Zotero uses - is able to do this and Zotero will likely follow soon after that's implemented - but we're still talking a couple of months at least.
Until then I think manually doing this at the end is your best option.
  • Current CSL also has an "original-date" field in the schema, but as adamsmith notes, it would need to be filled with data from the Zotero database. Changes to the Zotero database happen only at long intervals (for unavoidable technical reasons), but another cycle will be coming up as version 2.1 nears release later this year or early next. It will take a bit of patience, but this is a frequently raised issue, and will eventually be addressed.
