Error when adding citation in Mac Word

The plugin is available in the toolbar but when I add a citation only a number comes up after the sentence, not a footnote.
Does anyone know what's wrong?

    What style are you using in Zotero, and what view are you using in Word? Assuming you have selected a footnote-based style, It's highly likely that the footnote is being added, but you just can't see it. Try selecting Footnotes from the View menu.
