Error starting Zotero in FF 3.7 Alpha 5

Zotero worked fine in Alpha 4, but it won't start after upgrading to Alpha 5.

Hovering over the Zotero icon shows: "There was an error starting Zotero."

The following errors are recorded in the error console:

Error: Components.classes['@mozilla.org/extensions/manager;1'] is undefined
Source File: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/zotero.js
Line: 192

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/include.js :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 4" data: no]

It seems every error is repeated twice (the whole block is repeated twice). Unfortunately, I am not able to use Zotero anymore - can you please make it compatible with the latest FF alpha. By the way, this will go into the new FF 4.0, and therefore Zotero will need to be updated anyway. Thank you.

  • Firefox 4.0b2 will break everything, due to some API changes the Firefox folks made a couple weeks ago, and will probably require a separate version of the Word plug-in.

    If you need things to be stable, please Firefox 3.6.6—we are working on Firefox 4.0 compatibility, but it is not something we can implement instantly (especially since the API is still somewhat in flux), and these builds are labeled as alpha and beta in part to give developers time to adapt their extensions.
