signed up, but nothing

Hi, I signed up for Zotero, paid for it, and am not seeing the "iTunes-like" screen where I should be able to manually upload docs I have been collection. How long does it take for that to show up? Will it be under "My Library?"

I could not figure out how to get it to work w/out paying the $21/year -- is that correct, that this is not free?

Thanks for any guidance!
  • Zotero is free.
You can use it without paying anything except if you need more than 100MB of online file storage.

It is unclear what you are trying to do.

The documentation can help you: here.
  • Well, I just set up a profile and a log-in and everything last night. I would like to upload some electronic files of journal articles and then notate them, but I don't see any way to do that. When I click on "My Library" nothing happens -- it's just a dead-end. It doesn't look anything like the demo videos -- none of the buttons are available or anything. I had looked at the documentation last night and it did not provide help with this question.

Today I logged in again today and it still looks the same I click on "My Library" but there are no buttons there that would help me upload anything and it looks nothing like the video demos.

Does one have to download word processor plug-ins for Zotero to work, or are those optional?

Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.
  • Basic question: did you install the Firefox plug-in? Did you read the help documents?
  • The website is a secondary interface. Zotero is a firefox extension that needs to be installed in your browser. While running firefox, go to www.zotero.org and click on the large download button at the top right.
  • You need to install zotero: download it here.
  • I decided to switch to Pages -- it was worth the $42 to download it and already be adding and sorting papers in 15 minutes. Thanks for your help, though!
