Assigning attached notes to a collection

I have a book item to which I have attached some notes, and now I'd like to assign those notes to various collection folders. I've tried to drag and drop, but I can't seem to get the attached notes to show up anywhere except as child notes to their book. Am I not doing something right, or is it just not possible? Thanks!

    Not possible. Child notes cannot be assigned to collections independently of their parent items.

    That said, you can assign them their own tags, which should cover most use cases.

    Ah I see, thanks very much for the quick response. So tags it is, then.

    Also note that saved searches can simulate collections for tagged items.
