[Solved] FF 3.6.3 and Zotero 2.0.3 results in "There was an error starting Zotero"
Hi there,
Using Firefox 3.6.3 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3) and Zotero 2.0.3 under Windows XP SP3 results in the following error:
"There was an error starting Zotero"
with the Zotero icon in the status bar overlaid with a yellow exclamation mark.
The error console shows the following error;
Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80630002 [mozIStorageService.openDatabase]" nsresult: "0x80630002 (<unknown>)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js :: anonymous :: line 1058" data: no]
Source File: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/zotero.js
Line: 341
This error first started appearing (I think) after the upgrade to 3.6.3 but I can't be certain. I haven't installed any other add-ons recently - so it's the only likely change.
The following steps have been attempted but do not resolve the error;
1. Restart computer
2. compreg.dat, xpti.dat renamed and recreated
3. extensions.cache, extensions.ini, and extensions.rdf renamed and recreated
4. Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times
5. Removed other add-ons - main one I use is Delicious
6. Set about:config to log Zotero - but I don't know where it logs to - sorry!
7. Log level for Zotero is set to 5, changed it to 10 but again don't know where it logs to so can't see how it might have made a difference.
I'm pretty technical so happy to try other avenues of resolution.
Any assistance appreciated :-)
Kind regards,
Kathy

This is an old discussion that has not been active in a long time. Instead of commenting here, you should start a new discussion. If you think the content of this discussion is still relevant, you can link to it from your new discussion.
If so, that's where
a) you can view the log output and
b) you can check your database integrity
There were database integrity issues - the automated tool fixed these and the problem is now solved! Thanks again :-)
Do I need to mark this as solved at all?
Regards,
Kathy
If you want to, you can add a [solved] to the title of your original post. Most people don't and that's OK, but it still saves some time.
