PDF's not adding to Zotero

Here is a synopsis of my problem:

I downloaded the full PDF's from the websites, saved them on a folder, and dragged them onto its respective slot in Zotero(as we had previously loaded the abstracts in that slot). On Zotero, it designates that the file has been added. However, when we click on the (+) button to minimize it in order to view the files, no file shows up. When we restart firefox, it shows that no file had been added at all.

If anyone can explain this conundrum to me, I would greatly appreciate your assistance. Thanks!!!!
  • I actually forgot to mention that the PDF's do not sync with the rest of my group when I add them to Zotero.

    which operating system?
  • windows xp
  • windows 2003 actually
  • is anyone else having this problem?
  • have you tried using "store copy of file" instead of drag&drop instead?
Does Zotero produce errors that you can report using "report errors" in the gears menu?
How does Zotero tell you the file has been added?
  • I don't know if you're referring to the same issue/problem, but I've been having trouble getting the Snapshot feature to work with some cites/articles. Example:
    http://www.uic.edu/htbin/cgiwrap/bin/ojs/index.php/fm/article/view/2841/2475

    Thanks.
  • ptietjen: please read the thread you're replying to. The issue is different. Start a new thread (but, FWIW, "create new item from current page" seems to work fine at creating a snapshot there for me).

Can you walk me through how to use the store copy of file method? My colleague and I do not know exactly how to utilize that option.
  • right-click an item in the middle pane of zotero, select "add attachment->attach stored copy of file..." and then choose the file you'd like to attach.

Thanks for your response and suggestion. However, it is still not adding once I close and restart the browser.
  • your descriptions on what happens aren't precise enough.
E.g. you still haven't answered "How does Zotero tell you the file has been added? "

Also "However, when we click on the (+) button to minimize it in order to view the files, no file shows up."
doesn't make any sense - are you minimizing or expanding?

"However, it is still not adding once I close and restart the browser. "
I don't understand this either - does that mean the files are added and then vanish when you restart Firefox?

In order to understand what is going on we need a detailed and thorough description of what you're doing and what you're seeing. Don't assume that we can look at your screen.
