354196349 - Can't sync with group library

HI all. See 354196349. When I try to sync to my group library, I receive an error. A citation I deleted keeps appearing as a "conflict resolution" error. It show the local object, remote object and the merged object. All are this "ghost" citation which I deleted long ago. It freezes up the syncing and I have nothing in my group library. Thanks for the help which I need quickly. Posted previously under another id error number.

  • Conflict resolution isn't an error. Resolve the conflict and finish the sync.

    If you then actually get a sync error, you would continue to get the conflict resolution window each time. There's no error in your report, though, so you'd have to tell us what it says in the dialog when you click the sync error icon (if that's what you're doing).

    I don't know what "It freezes up the syncing" means.
  • Dan, I am caught in an eternal loop of conflict resolution errors. I try to resolve the error in merged item, but it just keeps telling me there is a conflict. Then, the sync just freezes. Do you every call anyone?
  • Again, if the sync isn't going through, you'll keep getting the CR window. Are you sure the sync is actually freezing? And again, what does "freezing" mean? Have you tried simply letting it go? If you have a very large number of items, Firefox may hang for a short while as it prepares the upload.
  • Dan, yes, the sync just stops. I have tried letting it go. I have very few records at this point, approx 25. There is a group library in my client, but the files do not appear on the web site of our group. However, our group is private. Because the group is private, does that mean they will not appear on the web site of our group but will only appear in the Zotero client of each member?

    The other question I have about the conflict resolution error is that I deleted this record and this conflict continues to appear. I then hand-entered the citation after deletion. Why would this record continue to appear as a conflict if it was deleted?

  • OK, but you're still not providing enough information. I don't know what "the sync just stops" means.
  • Dan, there is a constant loop of the conflict resolution error. This does not get resolved and the sync arrow just stops. I exit out of the conflict resolution and click sync. the conflict resolution pops up. I exit out and click the sync arrow and the conflict resolution pops up and so on and so on. Does that help?
  • Are you getting a sync error icon to the left of next to the sync icon?
  • Yes I am. That is how I generated the error number reported as 354196349.

    I also just tried creating an entirely new group and copied the citations into that group. I tried to sync and that one conflict resolution problem keeps appearing. I remain in that constant error loop.

    My last resort is to create an entirely new Zotero account this weekend and redo all of my citations to see if that works.

    No Zotero errors are coming through in that error report. What does it say in the sync error dialog (not the error reporting window)?
