Bug inserting similar citations with Word plugin

Hi - Zotero seems to have trouble dealing with two citations in a Word document with same author and date (two journal articles by the same person published in the same year.) Gives an error when inserting the citation.

  • Hi - I'm having the same problem, though with two publications by the same author in different years. Any idea if there's a way around this problem? I almost always need to cite multiple sources from the same author. It returns the error "An error occurred when communicating with Zotero. Please ensure Firefox is open and try again." If I try again, Word crashes. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.8 and Zotero 1r5, with Word 2004 on Mac OS 10.4.

    Thanks for your help!

Me too. Also when I try to use the multiple citations, i get an error saying unable to communicate with firefox.

    Still love Zotero though!
  • I can't replicate this problem. Are you both using the latest version of the Word plugin (1.0b1)?
  • No I was using the old version of the plug in. I installed the new version and then had to reinstall zotero as well. Now it works. Thanks! However, now in my Word tool bar there are two zotero bars, the old one and the new one. I removed the old one by right clicking and unchecking the old bar. The old one is still listed in the bar options though. Will this cause a conflict or should i just ignore it? Thanks for your help. Long Live Zotero!
  • dkratville, what operating system are you using (Mac OS X or Windows)?
  • dkratville: you should remove the old Word plugin. You'll find it in the same directory that now contains Zotero.dot (the new Word plugin).
  • Hi again,
I just tried this again using the latest versions of the plugin for Word and Firefox (plugin v. 1.0.1), removing and reinstalling both, and I still get the error "An error occurred communicating with Zotero. Please ensure Firefox is open and try again." Any more thoughts on how I can get this working? I sure would love to be able to use it... Thanks!
