Citations being exported to Endnote not Zotero by default

Hello All,

I'm pretty sure this may have been posted earlier but I'm having a hard time finding it.

I have been able to export citations with abstracts to Zotero easily (automatically) from ScienceDirect. I shut the machine off for the weekend and started it up again. Now when I do the same steps to export the citations in RIS format, I get a prompt to use ResearchSoft Direct export helper which will export the files to Endnote. I have the box checked to use zotero for RIS formatted files in preferences. How can I set the default to use zotero when I export RIS formatted files? I can't find Zotero as an application to manage RIS files in the applications tab under Firefox's Options. Thanks
  • Seems like you're doing everything right.
could you post a sample URL?
also, why aren't you using the translator (i.e. the icon in the URL bar)?
  • I totally forgot about the translator in the URL bar. That works. Earlier I was trying to export multiple citations which means I can't use the translator method.

So this is gonna drive me nuts. After exporting one citation using the translator, I then tried exporting multiple citations doing the same steps previously mentioned in the last post and it WORKED!!. So I'm glad it does but I don't have a solution if it happens again other than maybe exporting one citation using the translator which might of initialized zotero exporting procedure.

    why not?
use the folder icon when you're looking at the search results.
  • Wow, shows how much I know my way around Zotero. I just tried it and I get an error message. The message explicitly states the multiple file translator needs to be fixed for ScienceDirect, which will be in the future.

    Thanks
