chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/translate.js:59

Every time I starte Firefox 3.6 (English) there is a Stop/Continue box that relates to a Script error "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/translate.js:59".
I reported it with the wizard and I'm now posting it.
  • Is this on a particularly slow computer?

Do you have your Zotero data directory on a network (or otherwise very slow) drive?

It might be worth generating a Debug ID for the startup (using "Enable after restart").

Also, there's no use reporting errors unless you post the Report ID here, since we don't look at them otherwise. There might not be a relevant error in this case anyway, but it's worth a try.
  • Hi. I'm having the same issue as pachame13, and have seen it reported on the Mozilla forums as well: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/602744

I followed your instructions for generating a Debug ID, so I hope this helps: D29939533.

Many thanks in advance for your assistance.
  • Katie: What file and line number? pachame13's message is not the same as the one on the thread you link to.
  • Hi,

I've been getting this message too since upgrading (but I also upgraded Firefox at a similar time - dunno if this is relevant). I followed the advice above and the sent the debug stuff: ID is D418642217 [Sorry, submitted to server twice because forgot to c&p ID number first time and am a General IT Idiot...]
    Thanks
  • And btw I have no idea if I need to tell you file and line number. Because I do not know what this means! I looked at the output list but it may as well have been the guidance to run a nuclear submarine. In Russian.

The file and line number looks like what pachame13 quotes above. Is that what you're getting? And when are you getting that? And are you clicking Continue or Stop Script?
  • At least it is good to know that I am not alone. I will be getting my details and questions before submitting but thought I would post now in case total post numbers helps inspire fixes.
  • if so, I do post here too: I get the same message, on firefox as well.
I always stop the script and I am never offered to make an error report, so I don't know where to get a debug ID.

but since the script contains "translation" I wondered whether this problem could be linked to either the translation system automatically offered to me by google on every page now, or if it could be related to the language version of zotero (I'm using it in German).
  • Getting same message:

"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/translate.js:59"

    The Debug ID is D664908846

I have tried both continue and stop. I have selected to not show the message. Still every time Firefox I receive this message.

I do not have a slow computer, nor data directory on a network.

    Thanks for your help!
