Zotero Winword Integration Issue

When I am about to install the Word add-on for Zotero on my desktop, I get the following message:

"Zotero WinWord Integration 3.0a3 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.6.3."

Why does this happen? When I installed the same add-on on my laptop, everything was fine. Could this be happening because my desktop has Vista? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Aryesz: That shouldn't happen. The plugin does work with Firefox 3.6.3.

    Developers:
Perhaps I'm missing something, but it looks like the install.rdf for the XPI currently at http://www.zotero.org/download/integration/Zotero-WinWord-Plugin-3.0a3.xpi specifies a maxVersion of 3.5.x.
  • The maxVersion in the XPI doesn't matter. It's 3.6.* in the update manifest on the Zotero server. As long as one has add-on update checking enabled in the Firefox preferences, it should install. (This is the proper way to update compatibility—it's not necessary to distribute a new XPI.)
  • In that case, Aryesz, go to the Advanced pane of the Firefox preferences, then the Update tab. Make sure that the "Add-ons" box is checked.

I am experiencing the same problem and followed all the above advise but every time I try to install it still gives the message "Zotero WinWord Integration 3.0a3 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.6.3."

I am currently using Word 2007 I would like to know if anybody can please help!!.
  • Remove (possibly) corrupt extension files, make sure add-on update checking is enabled, and try again.
  • You can also temporarily use the trunk WinWord plugin (not the main extension trunk XPI) and switch back to the official version after the next plugin release, but that absolutely shouldn't be necessary.
