Error on attempting to sync: "File upload failed. Please try again."
When I sync I get an error state. The latest report number is 618819658. The error message is "sync.zotero.org : potentially vulnerable to CVE-2009-3555". It only happens when I have selected file syncing. I am running the latest zotero and the latest firefox. I have rebooted my computer. What's next?

dstillmanedited April 11, 2010That's not a relevant error. This is generally just an intermittent issue with Amazon S3, which is used by Zotero File Storage. Just sync again, as the message you're actually getting ("File upload failed. Please try again.") says.

pwnorrisI've tried at least 8 times with the same result over the course of 2 days.

craigjosephI'm getting the same error and have been ever since I bought additional Zotero storage space and switched to syncing my libraries there. (The report number is 1505888838.) I understand the advice to "just sync again," as Dan advised pwnorris, but roughly how many attempts does one have to make before getting some additional advice on a fix or workaround? I've rebooted several times, and re-installed Zotero.

dstillmanCraig: As I said, the "potentially vulnerable" message isn't relevant. Start a new thread, and tell us the actual error you're getting.

dstillmanpwnorris: Roughly how many attachments do you have? You can provide a Debug ID for a sync attempt that generates the error and we can take a look, but, unless you're getting this error immediately after clicking the sync icon, I suspect it's actually syncing a sizable number of files each time before Amazon produces an error and it just needs to get through them all. (Zotero should probably automatically retry after Amazon failures, but it doesn't currently.) You can hover over the sync progress bar to see progress.

pwnorrisI have about 25 attachments. I followed your directions for Debug: Debug ID is D537032343. I've tried syncing a few more times since then--last time it got to almost 20% before failure. At this rate my research partners will be on to another project before I can get my part uploaded! Any ideas?

pwnorrisI took my computer to work, synced successfully there, and now it's syncing at home, too. Thanks for your help, Dan. Still don't know what was wrong, but I'll take "back to normal" for now.
