A simple workaround for this problem is to save the Zotero file to your hard drive (it's a file that ends in .XPI; right-click to save it rather than a regular click, which would go straight to the file in the browser), and then open the file manually from within Firefox 2.0 (using file->open file...).
Firefox could not install the file at [link to local file]
because: Unexpected installation error
Review the Error Console log for more details. -203
The Console log indicates the following:
Error: installLocation has no properties
Source File: file:///opt/firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js

Any help??
I'm using: from help about:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0
On Suse Linux 10.1
http://www.zotero.org/download/zotero-2.0.2.xpi
Windows XP Professional; Firefox 3.6.2
I've tried right-clicking and downloading the above link as has been suggested, but it won't download.
Thanks in advance.
None of them worked.
:-(
I don't want to go back to EndNote.
I uninstalled Zotero originally because there was a Database error. So I just figured I could uninstall and reinstall to see if that fixed things as it often does.
Now i can't reinstall.
I have a feeling this has to do with the fact that I am using a Remote Desktop Connection to my research institution's server, and they may have just recently changed permissions (since Mozilla says one reason 228 comes up is because I'm not allowed to install an add-on). I wonder if that's the reason for the database error, too, since Zotero works fine on my own machine.
