how to reinstate zotero button in browser window?

The Zotero button has disappeared from its location above the Tasbar (bottom right of the Firefox window). I can't find this problem in the forums etc. I have tried 'changing' the button through Zotero preferences but still NO button is displayed.
I am still able to open Zotero with ALT + CTRL +Z but it's tedious doing that every time. Can anyone help, please?

    The statusbar icon normally should not even be removable. I would try disabling all your other addons (and go to the default FF theme). See if it shows back up then. Otherwise, you might have to try reinstalling the addon. FYI, there is also a toolbar button that you should be able to add to your menu, navigation, or another toolbar by clicking "customize".
