how to use tags

Other than being able to do a saved search on tags, is there a way to use them to sort your references? Maybe the feature is not fully developed yet, I would expect it to act something like del.icio.us, where you can click on a tag and bring up all of its references, then be able to click another tag to bring up references with both tags.
  • This feature will be available in the next version.
  • Is there a way to make this bring up subitems as well even if their parent item does not have the right tag? When I click on something in the tag selector, only parent items with the correct tag and their children show up - I'd prefer for it to work more like the search bar...
  • Maybe a fix could be to have parents automatically inherit all of their children's tags?
  • That would not only fix it but also save me a lot of time. Maybe it could be a feature users could toggle on and off?
  • Ticket created for this problem.

I'd rather not have this unless it's an option that can be turned off:
Maybe a fix could be to have parents automatically inherit all of their children's tags?
A note may have a tag that is completely unrelated to the parent item.

I love this approach though from Dan's message in another thread:
The best approach may be to display matching top-level items, matching children, and non-matching parents of matching children in gray.
With the caveat that matching children will appear as belonging to greyed-out parent items, rather than as top-level items.

Sorry if I was unclear—by "problem" I just meant the issue of tags not appearing in the tag selector for child items, which is what that ticket addresses. I don't think that having parents inherit their children's tags is the right solution.
  • I'd love to be able to add tags to notes and have them apply to the parent item for the notes - it's an extra click or two to go back to the tag tab for that reference to add the tag.
