Sync error 2102647521

I merged two group libraries and now Zotero (2.0 final) does not sync.

What I did:
1) Create new collections in library A to match the collections in library B
2) Drag and drop items from B to A into the appropriate collections
3) Login to zotero.org and remove myself from library B
4) Sync changes

I am also running OCR for the article PDFs in the background, but this probably does not have any effect.

Error number is 2102647521
  • I hate to bump threads, but this is a show stopper now and I really cannot do anything myself for this.
  • Provide another Report ID.
  • I cannot seem to get an error message. The sync just goes on for ever and eventually I start to get unresponsive script dialogs.

Here are some of the script locations that are unresponsive

    Script: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js:151
    Script: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js:402

Now I got an error that I have not seen before

"An automatic sync resulted in a conflict that requires manual intervention."

    Report id 1294864257
  • mronkko:
Click on the Sync icon in the Zotero pane (a sync initiated by clicking on "Sync" is what Zotero calls a manual sync, and thus "manual intervention"). You will likely be prompted to resolve a conflict between the local and remote data.
  • Yes. The second line of that message is "Click the sync icon to sync manually.".
  • OK, did that with no luck this far. Now I get "invalid response from the server"

    Report id 2044749942
  • (Also, I'm not entirely sure when you're sending in your error reports, but they're not including the actual Zotero error messages. Are you sending them in immediately after the errors are occurring and before restarting Firefox?)
  • I am sending the error message given in the dialog. I am not restarting FF before submitting the error report.

    The steps I do are

    1) Click on the red exclamation mark by the sync button
    2) Click on the "report error" -button in the dialog (the dialog says currently "Invalid response from server")
    3) Click continue
    4) Copy the error report ID and paste it here

    This is the latest 305070869

I checked the firefox javascript error log before posting here and also noted that there were no javascript errors with Zotero.

Should I switch debug on and then repeat sycn and report errors?
  • The sync went through this time. However, I noted a couple of things

With large syncs, having a warning for all tags seems a bit unnescessary. In my case the same dialog appeared several hundred times.

I got bored clicking on enter and made a screencast http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3J4DvN2sMvw

Second, the sync generated a little over 100 000 lines of log. When I try to send this to Zotero server, I get "The server returned an error. Please try again." dialog.

The last three lines in the debug output are

(3)(+0173728): HTTP POST 3755064 bytes to http://www.zotero.org/repo/report?debug=1 (gzipped from 19302573 bytes; 81% savings)

    (3)(+0031437): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xml>

    (3)(+0014988): Removing key key_undoCloseWindow with accesskey N
  • The reason for those pop-ups is a bit complicated, but suffice it to say that 1) you should get them only in rare circumstances and 2) the pop-up mechanism itself was always intended as a temporary solution, so this will be addressed at some point.

Anyway, if the sync went through we don't need debug output.
  • Yes. Thank you both Dan and ajlyon for your help.
  • Hello
Zotero reports this code error 2106145012 , when I am in process of sync.
I don't know what is happening? or What can I do?
    Thanks for your help
  • Jorge: Please start new threads for new issues. But first restart Firefox and try to sync a few more times.
