Saving Icon does not show in address bar

Hello all,

having installed Zotero on my Windows machine, I was eager to try out all the proising functionalities, but since there is no saving icon displayed I cannot add anything to my library, let alone display the edit screen.
System info: Windows XP, Firefox 3.0.17.
Regards
Barbara
  • I have exactly the same problem - am running Firefox v3.5.5

    Cheers

JCXX and JellyW, Welcome to Zotero and the forums!

If you have just installed Zotero you might need to spend some time wandering around the site learning some of the in's and out's of the program. There is a wealth of information here.

For instance you might Start here.

A good place to start when having trouble is the FAQs page.

Just to give you a head start, here is a page on No icon in the address bar

Also available on the Start page is a link to Screen Casts. It has some really good info.

So, again, welcome to the forums. Browse the site, and if you get stuck or can't figure something out, by all means, post back here again!

Edit: Oh, here's a link to Getting stuff into your library. It's a great place to start once you get Zotero installed. About half way down is a paragraph on manually adding items.
  • Hello arggem,

Thanx for the links and the welcome greetings. However, nothing moves at my end. I can't open the Zotero pane, the only hint that reminds me of having Zotero installed is the word zotero written on the right bottom corner in my browser window. Yes, I have tried clicking on it (right, left, ancountable times), shouted at it, nothing moves.

    Sigh

  • Shouting didn't work? Hmmm, this is serious. :)

Try looking at the Known Issues page. Especially the part about extensions. Some extensions are know to cause problems. If you have one or more of them, disable them and see if that helps.

If that doesn't help, disable all FireFox extensions. If that works, then you can start adding them back in one by one till you find the culprit.

If that doesn't work...come on back!
