keyword from endnote to zotero

Good morning,
I'm coming from Biblioscape 5.5. I have difficulties with Biblioscape under Linux (it runs with wine, but I can't register under Linux, because no machine ID is created). So I decided to import my stuff into Zotero. I exported from Bibliocape to EndNote (import from Biblioscape's RIS didn't work). and everything went fine. Besides one thing: I have the keywords (tags in Zotero's language) all in one line, separated by spaces as follows:

In Zotero the keywords form one keyword. From reading the forums I found out, that EndNote needs one keyword per line. So I wrote a script to separate the keyword and write them in distinct lines:

But using tis style, only the _last_ %K line (=keyword) appears in zotero.

When I delete the %K of the second, third and so on keyword, Zotero doesn't find a translator. A Hex editor showed me, that the lines endes with LF. canging them to CR+LF didn't make any difference.

How I have to format the Keyword fields?

    No, I didn't solve it. I'm still asking...

    Have you tried using RIS instead of the refer format?

    Yes. Biblioscape's export to RIS format gives, when importing into Zotero the well known "No translator found".

    have you tried renaming the RIS file from biblioscape as a .txt file and importing it in Zotero?

    my import-files were text files with a .txt suffix.
    I don't have EndNote, so I can not use it. Biblioscape has the following export filters:
    Biblioscape text file
    Refer-Unix
    Refer-Endnote
    RIS-Reference Manager.
    I tried them all - only the file generated by the Refer-Endnote filter is accepted by Zotero. Just mangling around with the keywords. If I knew how multiple keywords have to be formatted to be accepted by Zotero I'd modify my Refer-EndNote-file with a script...
    I have some 3000 citations and I won't change the keywords by hand ;-(

    just try out how Zotero exports/imports tags - seems like you'll need a new line before each new keyword, but no %K:

    it's also really weird that RIS wouldn't work - it really should - could you post an example of a couple of items?

    Edit: I just note that you seem to have tried some of this before - at a bit of a loss, then.

    For what it's worth, when I take your 2nd example, copy&paste to gedit, and simply delete the %K + space from all but the first line of keywords, this imports fine for me with all tags.

    FWIW: There have been posts from a few people who successfully imported Biblioscape-produced RIS. One person has noted that they were accidentally producing Biblioscape-tagged files when they thought they were making RIS.

    If the RIS is valid, the zotero translator could probably be improved a bit.

    If this is a one-time thing for you, I might suggest that you try to use
    http://www.scripps.edu/~cdputnam/software/bibutils/
    because you seem to be a technical user & because that program has fairly robust input & very strict output.

    Thanks for all the information.
    I did the following: I splitted my .txt file into halves and tried to import the new files. Partly it went OK, partly not. The files which didn't work became splitted again and so on. Now I have a great part in the Zotera database, but some citations won't go into Zotero. At last I got some un-understandable results:
    The newer entries with full information are OK. But years ago I made a file (I think, it was on a C64 or a Commodore PET?) which contained (for space and performance reasons) only accession number and keywords. The rest of the bibliography was filed in a hand written list, ordered by accession numbers. In 2003 I imported them into Biblioscape. These entries from long ago seem to make difficulties, but in a not understandable manner:

    But now I'm through. I have about 900 entries left which won't get imported. They are quite old and I don't think I need them once again in my life. I have them filed in a text file and I'll keep them there, just for case.
    But of course I'm curious, WHY they're so stubborn... They all follow the syntax described above.
