Library disappeared after upgrade, bookmarks still appear

I upgraded from Zotero 1.0 to 2.0, under Windows Vista.

I have all my bookmarks, had backed up the storage and .sqlite files so I tried using those (changing storage folder, moving and copying etc), have restarted my computer, nothing works: my bookmarks are there but my library is empty. In the storage folder I can see all my pdfs but I can't make them appear in Zotero...

What should I do?

Thanks
  • Thanks Dan, but I have already tried the two links you gave me (I have no other add-on on Firefox and I have tried to use my backup) and my library remains empty, with all the bookmarks still there... Any other suggestions?
  • when you say "bookmarks" - are you referring to collections and subcollections?
  • Are you positive that Zotero is using the correct data directory? When you click Show Data Directory from the Advanced pane of the prefs, and then open in the 'storage' folder, do you see recent files? Do you see numbered folders or folders with random eight-character names?

Have you looked at the different zotero.sqlite.* copies in your data directory and their dates and file sizes? What are they?
  • Bookmarks = collections and subcollections yes

"Show data directory" send me to the zotero folder, one of the subfolders is "storage" and has all the weirdly named folders with my pdfs inside.

    So I have:
    - zotero.moved-files.36.bak of 4KB
    - zotero.sqlite of 3,002 KB (came from my backup)
    - zotero.sqlite.36.bak of 4,190 KB
    - zotero.sqlite.bak of 4,195 KB
    - zotero.sqlite-journal of 3,785 KB

The original zotero.sqlite file (the one that appeared after the upgrade and is now stored in a temp file) was 3,005 KB.

    Thanks for your help,
  • Oh, if you see your collections then it's not a data issue—I thought you were referring to your Firefox bookmarks.

Are you sure you have no other Firefox extensions in Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions?

Send in a Report ID after restarting Firefox and opening the Zotero pane.
  • Oh I'm sorry I'd forgotten I had installed Gliider and didn't know where to check for add-ons... So I disabled that and now everything is back!

    Thanks bunches!
