Speaking in Plain Language

I have enjoyed using Zotero 1.0 for over a year on two Windows XP Pro notebooks and have built up a bit of a confusing library of collections on each. Than I got a Quad Core notebook running Window 7 Pro 64 bit and I downloaded Zotero 2.0 beta. This now has a few collections.

I would like to merge and clean up my three Zotero installs and have a common and shared Zotero experience no matter which of my computers I am on. I've looked through all your knowledge base files and they all descend into esoteric discussions that go way over my head.

I suggest a plain language article be written to address the issue of sharing Zotero among one's own computers. That could than be expanded to how to export Zotero to associates, but I don't want to get ahead of the main issue.
  • we try.
Specifically, what part of this page isn't clear?

I think that my problem [the issue] was finding the perfect keyword to describe the problem that I as a user faced. Your "sync" was perfect. I was hung up on different versions on different vintage machines, sharing, export etc.

That's why I resorted to the "Speaking in plain language" post. And there you were :)
Thanks to your "sync link" the updating of our older machines to 2.0 is done and sync was a snap to do.

  • Two small issues remain. Along the line I lost my Zotero logo [I used the little Z] on the bottom right corner of one of the ROGs. So now I must open by hitting Tools> Zotero on Firefox. I thought the migration to 2.0 would restore but it did not. Is there a way to get my little Z back?

Second issue is that on some links I get:
    Error fetching data
    ReadyState 1
    Status 0
    Headers: null

This only happens on some items.
Otherwise, my only issue is catching up with the daunting business of cleaning up my disorganized filing system :(

    Happy for the Saints!

    2) I'm not sure where you're seeing that, but it's not a Zotero error.
