Syncing and 1.0.10

I cannot sync with 1.0.10. The option does not appear to be available. (There's no "sync" in preferences, there's no sync button, etc.) So I tried 2.0, but then citations do not appear within Firefox--they can only be managed and viewed from the on-line account. (Mac 10.6.2, Firefox 3.5.7). Is this the typical experience, or I am missing something? Tried to start using Zotero for first time today, but after an hour still can't get it working as claimed.
  • Sync is only possible with zotero 2.0
  • and the citations should be "visible within Firefox" - unfortunately it's not clear from your description what isn't working exactly.
  • Thanks for both your replies. I added a post to another discussion thread since the real issue seems to be with 2.0. The issue is this: the Zotero Firefox add-on displays a window in the bottom of the screen that has three panels. As I understand it, when I add a citation, some mention of that citation should appear in the middle pane. (This is the behavior in 1.0). When I click on "Library" on the left pane, I should see the contents (the citations) saved to that library. Instead, I see nothing. It's completely blank. There's no way to access a citation to view it or edit it, except to go to the on-line (because apparently, once it syncs, whatever Zotero is saving to my harddrive is correctly being uploaded to the on-line server.)

rgould65: What you're describing really doesn't make any sense. Zotero 2.0 works just like 1.0, except that it also includes syncing and some other new features. You're either working with multiple Firefox profiles, or you've got other weird things going on on your machine, but in any case it doesn't sound anything like a Zotero bug.
  • Thanks. I'll look at the Firefox profiles. I have another machine at my office and it works smoothly there (I just discovered). So it is something local to the machine. Thanks for the insights.
  • Also check known incompatible extensions (or disable your other Firefox extensions).
