Zotero MacWord Integration Error
Zotero Word Integration Error
I am getting the following error message when trying to install the MacWord plugin:
“This version of Zotero MacWord Integration requires PythonExt 2.5 or later to run. Please download the latest version of PythonExt from zotero.org.”
FF version 3.6
Zotero v2.0rc2
Mac Word plugin 3.0a7
Word for Mac 2008 v12.2.3
When attempting to download and install the latest Python Extension, I get the following error:
Zotero WinWord Integration" could not be installed because it is not compatible with your Firefox build type (Darwin_x86-gcc3). Please contact the author of this item about the problem.
I also downloaded PyXPCOM Mozilla 1.9.2 (Firefox 3.6, XULRunner 1.9.2) - Alpha release from Mozdev.org and it did not seem to fix the problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

I believe I have updated the PythonExt so I don't know what else to try. Do I need to unistall the incorrect Windows version if I mistakenly tried to install it earlier?
The toolbar appears in Word but when I try to use it I get this error:
Firefox could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor. Please ensure that the appropriate Firefox extension is installed, then try again.
but without the toolbar in word
Any help would be appreciated.

Both of these can be found on the installation page. Some users have had trouble in Firefox 3.6 with the zotero.org version of PythonExt, in which case you can try the official alpha version for 3.6, which we haven't tested but I believe some users have gotten to work. If you're still having trouble with PythonExt in Firefox 3.6, you can always revert to Firefox 3.5 for the time being.
There might not be anything different in there, but it's going to be hard to figure out what's causing this without more information, since we can't reproduce it ourselves.
I am using Firefox 3.6 and Zotero 2.0rc2. I have followed the instructions provided by Dan but for some reason, I am still unable to cite with my Zotero tool bar. Although I have the toolbar loaded in MS Word (I have a MAC and am using MAC OSX), the toolbar does not recognize my action. In other words, I click on "insert citation" but nothing happens. Any advice would be very helpful.

I already have installed (1) Zotero 2.0rc2 and (2) Zotero MacWord Integration 3.0a7. (I am running Mac OS, Word 2004). The alpha PythonExt doesn't show up in Tools-Add ons-Extensions. When I restart Firefox, it says “This version of Zotero MacWord Integration requires PythonExt 2.5 or later to run. Please download the latest version of PythonExt from zotero.org.” I thought that I DID install the latest version...

Then I cleared the Firefox extension cache files as well as compreg.dat and xpti.dat from my Firefox profile directory. I restarted Firefox and PythonExt is missing.

Any other things to try?
(Again, just to reiterate: the message about PythonExt from Zotero is irrelevant, as it's the expected behavior if PythonExt isn't available. The problem is that PythonExt isn't getting installed, which can be ascertained by looking in Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions after restarting.)

I run Mac OS 10.6.2, Zotero 2.0rc2, and Macworld Integration 3.0a7.
