New Items icons missing

In my center column of Zotero, in the drop-down menu that appears when you press the round-green-button-wiith-down-arrow called "New Items," I don't have any icons associated with the words on the drop-down menu such as "Book," "Book Section," "Journal Article," etc. There is a space beside each of those words for an icon but no icons.

Also, when I select the snapshot of the webpage, on the right hand panel, I have learned from reading other posts that I should see a line that says "indexed: yes" and a round green double-arrow next to it. I do see the words "Indexed: yes" but I don't have that icon either.

There aren't supposed to be. There could be, but there aren't.

The refresh icon only appears if the attachment isn't indexed or is partially indexed.

Really? I have the icon labeled as "Reindex Item" for every attachment (rc2, FF 3.57, ubuntu 9.10)
  • I think Karl is using Zotero 1.0, in which Reindex didn't always appear.
  • I'm almost sure I downloaded Zotero 2.0 but in "Preferences" > "Advanced", at the bottom left of that "Advanced" box, where it says "Version" beside a little drop-down menu, it tells me it's "1.0." All the other Zotero features I have been reading about in the Start Guide and elsewhere seem to indicate I have Version 2.0. I know when I do a search with the Zotero search box, it searches my web pages that it has saved snapshots of. I think that's a Version 2.0 feature, isn't it? I was so pleasantly surprised to see that it does that. One of my searches came up, unexpectedly, with a search result I knew could only be from a web page that I saved in Zotero by pressing the button "Create New Item From Current Page" atop the middle column of Zotero.

So, I'm almost sure I downloaded Version 2.0. But then why is that Advanced box in Preferences saying it's Version 1.0, I'm wondering?

It sounds like you have 2.0, though, since the OpenURL section (which is what the "1.0" you're referring to is from—it has nothing to do with the Zotero version) was moved to Advanced in 2.0.

Full-text indexing of web page snapshots existed in 1.0, though.
  • Regarding the indexing icon, then, I'm guessing you don't have the PDF tools installed from the Search pane of the Zotero preferences. That would cause the icon to not appear (which is a bug—it should obviously appear for HTML files regardless).

Thanks for the link: I have Zotero Version 2.0rc2 and Zotero WinWord Integration 3.0a3. Also, I do have pdftotext version 3.02 installed and pdfinfo Version 3.02 is installed.
  • The double green arrow has appeared at "Indexed: Yes" --- !!! Thanks for whatever you did on your end.
  • The double green arrow is on all my "Indexed: Yes" items -- I just checked them all. Thanks so much for your help.
