Upgrade Storagenumbered citation with sorting by author/year
Can I create a citation style with a bibliography sorted by author and year but using citation numbers to refer? Or is the citation number always as the sequence the citation is used inside the text?

in the bibliography (provided the author macro is called author)
that will give you what you want - there are one or two such styles in the repository, unfortunately I forgot which ones - but since it's a one line change, you can just take whichever numbered styles fits your needs.
