More Control on Syncing

My problem is this: I would like to use Zotero for all my citational organization, this means (at least for me) having papers linked to citations in Zotero. However, my library is sufficiently large that I am unable to sync my citations because with the attached PDFs I exceed the 100 Mb capacity. Being a grad student, I have no desire to spend any money to expand my storage, but I'd prefer to have the option of only syncing the citations. This way, when I am working from home on my personal computer I can still access the citation but the PDF stays on my computer and off the server. Would this be appealing to anybody else out there?

Zotero peeps, is this possible now or will it be soon? Thank you.
  • I'd prefer to have the option of only syncing the citations.
This is possible, simply uncheck "sync attachment files in my library using..." in the sync tab of the Zotero preferences.

Also, if you wanted to sync only a few PDFs to stay under the 100Mb limit (say ones you were working on currently) you could probably do that by creating a private group with you as the only member, adding the items to the group, and making sure "sync attachment files in group libraries using Zotero storage" is checked in the sync tab of the preferences.

Finally you might want to check if your institution provides a free WebDAV service, which you could use to sync files, my university does this and this is what I use.
  • Thanks Bionatsci . . . I must have looked at the sync preferences a dozen times and some how just completely overlooked that. Thanks.
