punctuation is already in place when importing sources

Whenever I import information to zotero from any website, punctuation is already in place (ie. periods after author names, colon after publishing place.) Is there a way to not allow zotero to import these punctuation marks so that I don't have to go through and delete all before exporting to microsoft word?
  • I haven't personally noticed superfluous punctuation like this with any of the databases/publishers I use (I work in the biological sciences). Would it be possible for you to provide some sample URLs?
  • I mostly work with sources from Harvard's "Hollis library". Does anyone else encounter this problem when working from Hollis?

searched under: Thomas Friedman, for example. But it happens with all searches

That page uses the COinS translator & the unwanted punctuation is present in the COinS. Don't know if this is Harvard's issue or a general issue in aquabrowser, but the best fix would be to have one of them fix the data & not have Zotero try to work around it. Corinna from your library has posted to this forum before.
