  • Congratulations!
What's the idea behind increasing the major releases (7, 8, 9) so fast now? I understand that you've now chose a path of rapid releases, but why are these version major and not 7.x release?
I'm asking this as we've seen a whole bunch of plugins being "not supported" suddenly, because of a line of code in the manifest.json.
  • We've always done regular releases. The change here is specifically that these are major releases — they include major new features, and they may break plugin compatibility through UI or API changes, while the minor releases between them are guaranteed not to. Plugin developers need to test their plugins on the new major versions and mark them as compatible (which they should be able to do via the update manifest without even putting out a new version). If they can't do that, people shouldn't use their plugins.
